“I meant,” said Ipslore, bitterly, “what is there in this world that makes living worthwhile?”
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually, CATS ARE NICE.
MANY HAVE, said Death, evenly.
Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series is absolutely, delightfully, hilarious. I’ve always been a fan of British humor, whether from TV’s The Office or dark comedies like Snatch. It has just the right amount of absurdity and wit to bring home the occasional satirical jabs. This is the kind of comedy I like, the kind that can perform that fabulous trick of entertainment that turns a mirror on the audience. We laugh hysterically, yet recognize, on varying levels of consciousness, that we are laughing at our own absurdities.
It’s a fun and wild ride, and if you liked Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, then it’s time to stick out your thumb and hop onto the crazy, spinning Discworld.
